I was asked to develop a Giant character for Mondi - a global leader in sustainable packaging - which would then be used across their brand as a sort of temporary mascot. The client then wanted this Giant character to star as the protagonist in an animated brand film.

 

Mondi create custom packaging for manufacturers on a large scale and this film uses the glass-blowing Giant character as a surrogate for these customers. He needed to be instantly recognisable without any other characters in the frame for scale so I did a number of experiments pushing the body proportions until we found the right fit.

 

In addition to the storyboarding and animation process, I was given lots of freedom to design the world and characters for this story and had a lot of fun building this fantasy Swiss alpine/Mediterranean port town.
